TUCSON, Ariz. — A 24-year-old Army veteran from Tucson is recovering in the hospital after a serious accident at a gym. The injury happened just weeks before he was scheduled to begin training at the Sahuarita Police Department.
Jordan Albright, known for his determination, was excited to start his new career in law enforcement. To stay in shape, he regularly worked out at the gym.
Last week, during a bench press exercise, a barbell weighing 240 pounds accidentally fell on his neck. Despite having a spotter present, the weight caused severe injury. Jordan was rushed to the intensive care unit (ICU), where he was intubated and placed on a ventilator.
“He is still in the hospital,” said his sister, Savannah Accetta. “He is doing well considering the weight that fell on his throat. He still has a tracheotomy but was able to walk for a short time yesterday. He is finally off sedation. We are hoping he stays positive and recovers quickly.”
Savannah shared that Jordan is eager to recover and return to his goal of serving as a police officer. She said his strong faith is helping him through this difficult time.
“My brother trusts in the Lord’s healing power, and he believes God is guiding him through this,” she said. “While it is frustrating, our faith gives us hope. Jordan and his wife have been reading scripture together in the hospital. We are asking everyone to keep him in their prayers.”
Because Jordan was set to begin his job with the Sahuarita Police Department next week, he does not currently have insurance coverage. As a result, the family will need to cover his medical expenses out of pocket.
