Jamaican Fast Food Juici Patties Plans US Expansion with 3000 Stores Goal

by Daisy

Jamaica’s largest fast-food chain, Juici Patties, is set to expand in the United States, having signed 57 franchise agreements with plans to open new locations by 2027, according to Black Enterprise.

Juici Patties was founded in 1980 by Jukie Chin in May Pen, Clarendon, Jamaica. The company began with one main product: the Jamaican beef patty, a flaky pastry filled with spiced beef. What started as a small venture in Chin’s mother’s kitchen has grown into a well-known brand with more than 60 outlets across Jamaica and exports throughout the Caribbean.

The chain has already started expanding in the U.S., opening stores in South Florida in 2024, followed by locations in Brooklyn and the Bronx, according to Eater. The strong customer response shows that Jamaican cuisine appeals to a wide audience beyond just the Caribbean diaspora.

Daniel Chin, CEO of Juici Patties USA and son of the founder, told Black Enterprise, “This is more than just a business. It is a chance for a Jamaican brand to grow on the global stage and show the world Jamaica’s potential.” He added that his Caribbean roots motivated him to achieve something new.

Chin, who studied hospitality and business at the University of Guelph in Canada, joined the company 12 years ago. He helped improve the business by changing hiring, training, and pay practices. Within two years, Juici Patties was ranked number one in Jamaica for customer service. Employee satisfaction also rose, with 96% saying they would recommend the company as a workplace.

This strong foundation supports Juici Patties’ U.S. growth plan, which is based on the founder’s focus on relationships. The company uses a franchise model to expand while keeping control over quality. Most franchise owners are Jamaican Americans who understand the culture and food.

“Franchising allows us to share profits,” Chin explained. “Franchisees build the stores, buy the equipment, and manage construction. I like this model because it helps others become wealthy.”

With plans to open 3,000 locations in the U.S., Juici Patties shows that Caribbean brands can grow worldwide without losing their authenticity.
