SINGAPORE – The annual Takashimaya Food Fiesta will return to Takashimaya Square from June 19 to July 7, showcasing food and drinks from over 55 local and international brands.
This year’s event features a special appearance by Kim Kyung-jin, better known as the “fit farmer” from the first season of the South Korean reality TV competition Physical 100. The 42-year-old celebrity will be present at the booth of Korean lifestyle brand SoGoodK from June 19 to 22.
Kim, known on Instagram as @momjjangnongbu (which means “fit farmer” in Korean), has more than 41,000 followers. He is also the CEO of several agricultural businesses and fitness gyms in South Korea. For the past eight years, he has managed his father-in-law’s 100,000 sq ft farm in Haenam county, where he grows sweet corn, sweet potatoes, and mini pumpkins.
At the Food Fiesta, visitors can try grilled sweet corn cobs from Kim’s farm, priced at $12 each. The corn will be cooked on-site and available in a range of flavours, including Bburinkle (a cheese, onion, and garlic seasoning), Buldak (spicy chicken), cheese, and honey butter.
In a video interview with The Straits Times from South Korea, Kim shared that only corn cobs at least 15cm in length will be sold in Singapore. He said the kernels are plump, crispy, and especially sweet.
This will be Kim’s first visit to Singapore. He was invited by Olivia Lee, founder of SoGoodK, who first met him in 2019.
