Experts Controversial Tip to Get Kids Eating Their Veggies

by Daisy

Joe Wicks, fitness expert and father of four, understands the common struggle parents face in getting children to eat vegetables. The Body Coach founder advises parents to adopt certain strategies to make vegetables more appealing to kids, including a somewhat controversial suggestion.

Wicks recommends allowing children to build up their appetite by avoiding snacks like biscuits, crisps, or popcorn immediately after school. He explains that these snacks fill children up, so by the time mealtime arrives, they are not hungry.

“Don’t give your child a packet of biscuits or a bag of crisps when they get home from school because that just fills their tummy,” Wicks said. “By the time you have the meal, a couple of hours later, they’re not hungry.”

He adds that letting children feel hungry increases the chance they will try new foods. “When you put something new in front of them at the table, they are 90 percent more likely to try it and eat it,” he said.
