At Berkshire Hathaway’s annual shareholder meeting on Saturday, Warren Buffett defended his junk-food diet and dislike of exercise, saying his habits haven’t harmed him despite his age.
The 94-year-old billionaire investor, seated with two cans of Coca-Cola and a box of See’s Candies, said he has enjoyed drinking soda throughout his life without issues. He also mentioned his late business partner, Charlie Munger, who lived to 99 despite a similar lifestyle.
Buffett joked that neither he nor Munger exercised much, instead focusing on “preserving ourselves carefully,” which drew laughter from the audience. He noted the physical toll on professional athletes as a reason to avoid excessive exercise.
Known for his fondness for McDonald’s breakfast, five cans of Coke a day, and Dairy Queen ice cream, Buffett has embraced unhealthy foods like hot dogs, fries, popcorn, cookies, and candy.
He also made Coca-Cola and Kraft Heinz major investments for Berkshire Hathaway and fully owns companies like See’s Candies and Dairy Queen.
In a 2023 interview, Buffett said happiness plays a big role in longevity and that he feels happier enjoying Coke, hot fudge sundaes, and hot dogs.
