HOISINGTON — Clara Barton Hospital’s operating room (OR) team took part in a nationwide effort to emphasize the importance of teamwork in surgery. This initiative, led by the Association of PeriOperative Registered Nurses (AORN), chose the theme “Collaboration for Patient and Worker Safety” to highlight how working together improves outcomes for patients and staff.
Kim Tutak, Director of Surgery Services at Clara Barton Hospital, said the theme reflects the culture in their OR team. “For patients, this means a collaborative environment that supports the best possible surgical results,” Tutak explained. She added that for OR staff—including surgeons, anesthesia providers, registered nurses, surgical assistants, and other personnel—working closely together enhances workplace safety and creates a positive atmosphere.
“Whether you are having an outpatient procedure or one that requires a hospital stay, you can trust our OR team to support your needs before, during, and after surgery,” Tutak said.
The hospital’s OR team includes nine health professionals with more than 110 years of combined experience. “We are fortunate to have such skilled personnel,” Tutak said, praising their dedication and excellent work.
Clara Barton Hospital, located in Hoisington, Kansas, offers surgical services around the clock for both inpatient and outpatient care. Its facilities include four preoperative cubicles, two main operating suites, one minor procedure room, and three postoperative recovery beds.
