A 32-year-old mother of two from Glasgow has lost two stone in just two months after starting treatment with the weight loss injection Mounjaro. Sarah Hill, an assistant manager at a soft play centre, has struggled with her weight since her late teens. At her heaviest, she weighed 245 pounds (17 stone 7 pounds) and wore a size 22.
For years, Sarah avoided social events because she felt self-conscious about her weight. She often canceled plans at the last minute, saying she felt like “the overweight one.” She spent hours preparing for nights out but would stay home, hiding behind loose clothing and dark tights to cover her body.
Her turning point came in July 2024 after the death of her grandmother, who she cared for during her illness. The loss left Sarah feeling exhausted and desperate for change. Determined to improve her health for herself and her children, she decided to try weight loss injections after failing to maintain weight loss with diets such as Cambridge, Slimming World, and calorie counting.
Sarah discovered Mounjaro, a weekly injectable medication used for weight loss and type 2 diabetes treatment, through a specialist weight management program called Slim Results. The injection works by reducing hunger and prolonging feelings of fullness. According to NHS guidelines, Mounjaro is prescribed to people with a body mass index (BMI) over 30, or over 27 if they have weight-related health issues.
Initially nervous about using medication, Sarah said the support from the Slim Results team helped her overcome doubts and manage side effects like fatigue and constipation. She praised the team for offering ongoing advice on nutrition and vitamins.
Two months into the treatment, Sarah’s weight dropped from 245 pounds to 216 pounds (15 stone 6 pounds), and she now wears a size 14 to 16. She described a recent shopping trip as a major milestone, noting she was able to buy smaller clothes at stores like Primark, where she had previously avoided shopping because of limited size options.
Sarah’s lifestyle has also changed significantly. She now chooses healthier meals, replacing her former breakfasts of sausage rolls and large vanilla lattes with overnight oats or fruit and black coffee. Her lunches typically include soup or salad, and dinners are focused on vegetables and protein.
Reflecting on her journey, Sarah said, “I feel like a completely new person. I’m now planning nights out again and actually going. For the first time in a long time, I’m excited.” Her story highlights the potential impact of medical treatments combined with lifestyle changes on weight management and self-confidence.
