The 2025 ParticipACTION Community Challenge, a national initiative designed to encourage physical activity across Canada, has kicked off in Esquimalt. To support the challenge, Esquimalt Recreation has organized a series of events aimed at promoting fitness and community engagement.
On Saturday, June 14, the Esquimalt Neighbourhood Party will feature a free drop-in volleyball session in partnership with Urban Rec, providing an opportunity for residents to engage in an active and enjoyable workout. On Thursday, June 19, the Gorge Pavilion will host a Feel Good Dance Party, offering a fun and energetic way for people to get moving.
The Esquimalt Pride Ride, taking place on Friday, June 20, will gather participants at Memorial Park at 5:30 p.m. for a group bike ride, celebrating both physical activity and community inclusivity. Additionally, a special senior’s social walk and garden tour is scheduled for Thursday, June 26, giving older residents a chance to enjoy a leisurely yet active outing.
All active minutes logged in Esquimalt Parks and Recreation activities will contribute to the community’s total, helping to boost the town’s chances of winning the ParticipACTION challenge. The community with the highest participation will receive a \$100,000 reward, further incentivizing residents to join in and stay active throughout the challenge.
