Bihar Prepares Yoga Exercises for Sportspersons Before Yoga Day

As the world prepares to celebrate International Day of Yoga on June 21, the Bihar State Sports Authority has announced a new initiative to develop special yoga exercises aimed at improving athletes’ performance.

Ravindran Shankaran, Director General and CEO of the Bihar State Sports Authority, told Akashvani News that the renowned Bihar Yoga Vidyalaya in Munger will create customized yoga asanas specifically for sportspersons.

Swami Niranjanananda, head of the Munger Yoga Vidyalaya, has agreed to lead the effort. Bihar will be the first state in India to design such a program tailored to enhance the abilities of athletes.

According to Shankaran, the program will focus on selecting yoga poses and pranayama techniques that help with specific sports disciplines and reduce anxiety. High-quality videos demonstrating these exercises will be produced and shared with athletes across other states through the Health Department.

This year, a special Yoga Week will run from June 16 to 21, organized by the Sports Authority in partnership with the Health Department. The Bihar School of Yoga, known worldwide for its yoga practice, training, and promotion of spiritual knowledge, plays a key role in this initiative.
