Tammy Slaton, star of 1000-Lb Sisters, has reached a major milestone after losing over 500 pounds. She has now qualified for skin removal surgery.
Ahead of the May 20 episode, TLC shared a preview on Instagram showing Tammy’s appointment with bariatric surgeon Dr. Eric Smith. He told Tammy, “You’ve shown me that you can focus on your nutrition, and because of that, I’m giving you the green light to go back to Pittsburgh and get scheduled for your skin removal.”
Tammy, 38, smiled widely and said, “Thanks!” Dr. Smith also said that another surgeon, Dr. Peter Rubin, supports the decision. Tammy told him she felt “relieved.”
In a confessional, Dr. Smith said, “I’m super excited for her. This is something she’s wanted for a long time. It’s not the end of her journey, but it’s a final reward for all her hard work.”
Fans praised Tammy in Instagram comments, expressing pride and happiness for her progress. One fan wrote, “So proud of you Tammy!” Another said, “This has been a long time coming.”
Tammy revealed in an August 2024 TikTok video that she had lost 500 pounds after years of struggle. She had bariatric surgery in 2022.
The new episode featuring this milestone airs May 20 at 9 p.m. ET on TLC and streams the next day on Max.
