Episode 7 of KBS2’s Wednesday–Thursday drama 24-Hour Fitness Club, which aired on May 21, brought emotional depth and unexpected humor as gym director Do Hyun-joong (played by Lee Jun-young) helped member Lee Mi-ran (played by Jeong Eun-ji) confront emotional scars and regain her passion for fitness.
Mi-ran, still burdened by the pain of a past breakup, declared she would quit exercising. Refusing to let her walk away, Hyun-joong persuaded her to give fitness another try. To reignite her motivation, he introduced her to new sports like shooting and basketball. While Mi-ran impressed with her athletic talent, the efforts revealed her past struggles — her drive to excel had come from a desire to be loved, which only deepened her sadness.
Despite her resistance, Hyun-joong remained persistent. He even visited her workplace to express his genuine concern, which led to unexpected support from her coworkers who mistook them for a couple. Eventually, Mi-ran agreed to join him on a hike.
The mood shifted during the hike as Mi-ran’s expression darkened. She disappeared into the woods, leading to a tense moment where Hyun-joong found her standing near a cliff. Fearing the worst, he rushed to stop her — only to find that she was suffering from a minor stomachache, delivering a dose of comic relief for viewers.
Later, Hyun-joong opened up about his own painful past. Born underweight and physically weak, he was once overlooked by others. With help from the gym’s original director, Dong Han-cheol (Choi Mu-sung), he grew stronger — only to feel abandoned when Dong left. Encouraged by Mi-ran’s support, he visited Dong’s hospital room, where he found a journal showing that Dong had never stopped caring. The realization left him emotional.
Mi-ran also gained closure. Encouraged by Hyun-joong’s unwavering support, she found the strength to move on from her ex-boyfriend, Yeom Jun-seok (Jeong Uk-jin), and returned to the gym.
However, the episode ended on a cliffhanger. Just as Mi-ran returned to her fitness routine, Hyun-joong’s ex-girlfriend, Kang Sol (Park Hae-in), made an unexpected entrance at the gym. Signing up for personal training, she greeted Hyun-joong with a casual, “It’s been a while, oppa,” hinting at more drama to come.
With lingering emotions and new complications unfolding, viewers are eager to see what surprises lie ahead in the next episode.
