Kelly Ripa’s Reluctant Diet Change Transforms Her Physique

Kelly Ripa is known for her incredible figure, which she maintains through a disciplined fitness routine and healthy eating. However, while she takes her health seriously, the *Live Wire* author admits that her husband, Mark Consuelos, is even more disciplined when it comes to diet and lifestyle.

Earlier this year, ahead of the 2025 Oscars, Kelly decided to take Mark’s advice and change her diet for a short period. The results, she says, were impressive.

On the June 9th episode of *Live*, Kelly shared the story behind her Oscars outfit—a vibrant, floor-length gown that hugged her waist. She had been struggling to zip it up due to a bit of “side skin” causing discomfort. “I was having trouble getting my dress zipped up the side,” she said, explaining the challenge of having her side skin accidentally zipped into the dress.

Kelly then turned to Mark for advice. “You put me on a high, high-protein diet,” she recalled, admitting that this was the first time she had listened to him about her diet. “I can’t live like you. You’re way too disciplined,” Kelly joked, but she agreed to follow Mark’s advice for just 72 hours.

The result? “I ate exactly what you told me to eat, and that dress zipped right up,” Kelly said. “No side skin, and I looked super fit. So thank you for that.”

Mark also took the opportunity to educate viewers on the importance of balancing protein with fiber. “It’s really important,” he emphasized. “Women need 25 grams of fiber per day, and men need 38 grams. Fiber helps maintain a healthy gut microbiome and may lower the risk of chronic diseases like diabetes.”

While Kelly praises Mark for his discipline, she also sticks to her own strict routines. For several years, she has cut out alcohol and sugar from her diet, opting for a healthier lifestyle. She turned to Dr. Daryl Gioffre, author of *Get Off Your Sugar*, to help her break her sugar addiction. Kelly even wrote the foreword for Dr. Gioffre’s book, sharing how his guidance helped her understand her cravings.

“For years, I had a candy drawer at home,” Kelly admitted. “I’d dip into it whenever I felt a craving. I knew sugar wasn’t good for me, but I thought, ‘Everyone needs a vice, right?’ I didn’t realize just how addictive sugar really is.”

Both Kelly and Mark have made significant changes to their diet and exercise routines over the years, proving that even the most disciplined can benefit from a little help and a lot of dedication.
