Charleston, W.Va., June 2, 2025 — Governor Patrick Morrisey, accompanied by First Lady Denise Morrisey and Dr. Angie Settle, CEO of WV Health Right, officially introduced the organization’s new Mobile Teaching Kitchen today. The unveiling ceremony featured a ribbon-cutting and a live cooking demonstration as part of ongoing efforts to Make West Virginia Healthy and encourage better nutrition.
Governor Morrisey highlighted the importance of the initiative, saying, “WV Health Right’s Mobile Teaching Kitchen shows how innovative, community-focused efforts can address chronic illnesses and support lasting wellness throughout our state. By making nutrition education and preventive care more accessible, this program is helping us move closer to our goal of a healthier West Virginia.”
First Lady Denise Morrisey praised the project’s community impact, stating, “This mobile kitchen combines creativity and care to improve lives. Teaching families how to cook healthy meals and understand nutrition empowers people across West Virginia to make better food choices and build stronger, healthier futures.”
Dr. Angie Settle described the Mobile Teaching Kitchen as “a classroom, a clinic, and a lifeline.” She added, “We’re bringing the concept of ‘food as medicine’ directly into neighborhoods, community events, and places outside traditional healthcare settings. This approach gives everyone, no matter where they live, the tools to make informed, healthy decisions.”
The Mobile Teaching Kitchen is a fully equipped unit designed to travel across West Virginia. It offers hands-on cooking lessons featuring nutritious recipes, promotes preventive health screenings, and connects community members with WV Health Right’s full range of healthcare services. This initiative aims to make health education more accessible and engaging for all residents.
