A woman’s gym mishap has gone viral on Instagram, attracting over 19 million views in just one day. Jalissa Helen Olsen posted a video showing her attempt at a medicine ball slam that ended in disaster. Instead of hitting the floor and bouncing back gently, the ball rebounded with force and struck her in the face. The impact knocked off her glasses and AirPods, and she fell flat on her back. The clip, humorously captioned “I am the emergency,” has received more than 830,000 likes.
London-based personal trainer Georgia Garlick offered advice on how to use a medicine ball safely. She told Newsweek that the first important step is to place a soft surface, like a towel or yoga mat, under the ball to reduce the bounce.
Garlick, co-founder of Self Care Academy, also recommended starting with slow, controlled movements before moving on to more explosive throws and rotations. Finally, she stressed the importance of choosing the right weight for the exercise, explaining that heavier balls are needed for throwing or rotational moves due to the speed and elasticity involved.
