David Nino, a 38-year-old executive chef from Jacksonville, Florida, has shed over 100 pounds after a wake-up call from his doctor. In January 2024, Nino weighed 306 pounds and wore triple XL shirts and size 45 trousers. Today, he weighs 198 pounds and comfortably fits into size 34 trousers, a transformation that was driven by his desire to stay healthy for his three children.
The turning point came during a doctor’s visit, where Nino was told that his health was at serious risk. “They said, ‘You have to lose weight, or you’re not going to be there for your kids,'” he recalled. Nino, who suffers from asthma, back pain, and sciatica, was motivated to take action. He began incorporating daily five-minute high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workouts into his routine, along with intermittent fasting and a significant reduction in his carb intake.
To improve his diet, Nino swapped rice and pasta for healthier options like green beans and frozen vegetables. He also focused on increasing his protein intake while allowing himself weekly cheat meals to maintain balance. Despite the challenges, Nino says the hardest part was being patient and believing in himself as he waited for the results.
His inspiring journey proves that even small, consistent changes can lead to dramatic improvements in health and well-being.
