Evan Mock’s Real-Life Diet No More Microwaving Skate Shoes

by Daisy

Pro-skater Evan Mock has built a career around versatility, seamlessly blending his passions for skating, fashion, and now acting. Known for his bold approach to life, Mock has always kept his options open, never shutting doors on new opportunities—even ones that initially made him feel uncomfortable.

Mock’s acting career, which came as a surprise to many, wasn’t something he had planned. Despite his success as a professional skater, he found himself taking on new roles, including participating in this year’s GQ Bowl and appearing in the latest *Gossip Girl* reboot. But acting wasn’t always on his radar. “I’ve always kept my options open, and I’ve never closed doors or shut things down,” Mock shared in a recent interview.

In addition to his work in entertainment, Mock’s lifestyle brand, Wahine, recently launched a new collection, reflecting his island-inspired ethos. As he balances skating, acting, and fashion, Mock also prioritizes his well-being, with 2025 being the year he aims to fully embrace self-care.

Speaking from Denmark during a break from the Copenhagen Open and its afterparty, Mock discussed his approach to fitness, his lifestyle choices, and the way his inner circle encourages him to take risks. Mock’s athletic background in Hawaii, particularly his love for surfing, naturally shaped his approach to fitness. He noted that growing up, physical activity like surfing, skating, and hiking was part of daily life, and he never had to put much thought into it. “I didn’t really think about my physique too much. It was just a natural thing,” he said. As Mock moves into his late 20s, however, he has started to pay more attention to his body but hasn’t yet adopted rigorous gym routines or strict diets.

Mock’s recent experience with Louis Vuitton further illustrates his unique career journey. He was surprised to find that a mannequin modeled after him was displayed at Louis Vuitton stores around the world. “It was a surreal experience,” Mock recalled. “Getting to see that and having friends go into the Louis Vuitton store and taking photos next to my mannequin was special.” The mannequin, which was created using an advanced 3D body scanning technique, felt like a perfect replica, and Mock was impressed with the precision of the process.

Despite his rising fame in the fashion world, Mock also recalled some of the old-school tricks he learned growing up, such as microwaving new skate shoes to mold them to his feet. He shared the technique with a laugh, explaining that it was a common method used by pro skaters when they didn’t have access to custom-fitted shoes. Though Mock no longer needs to microwave his shoes as his career has afforded him more resources, the trick serves as a reminder of how far he has come in his journey.

As Mock expands his horizons into acting and fashion, he credits his success to having a solid support system. He emphasized the importance of surrounding himself with people who encourage him, noting that those who criticize or doubt him are often motivated by jealousy or fear. With the backing of a positive circle, Mock has been able to pursue multiple passions and thrive in each.
