Lisa, a 40-year-old mum of three, shed six stone before her milestone birthday without turning to weight-loss injections or restrictive dieting. Instead, she credits her transformation to intuitive eating, daily movement, and letting go of years of yo-yo dieting.
Once weighing 17st 6lbs and wearing a size 18, Lisa struggled with portion control and would often eat her husband and children’s leftovers. “I told myself it was to avoid waste, but I was just out of control,” she admitted. Her eating habits included frequent snacking on crisps and cheese in front of the TV and multiple servings of homemade curry.
For years, Lisa tried popular diets like Atkins and Weight Watchers with little success. “Food was my answer to everything — whether I was happy or sad,” she said. But as her 40th birthday neared, she reached a turning point. “I didn’t want to feel bloated and insecure on such a special day,” she explained.
She also added gentle activity to her routine, including five-minute daily workouts and walking 10,000 steps a day. “I just stuck to sensible portions and made smart choices,” Lisa said.
“I love getting my steps in and walking with friends. I’ve fallen back in love with eating, even though I eat far less than I used to,” she said. She still cooks homemade meals for her family but now freezes leftovers instead of finishing them off.
Lisa lives in West Yorkshire with her husband Michael and their three children — William, nine, and six-year-old twins Charlie and Poppy. She says her journey has changed her life: “I don’t have to restrict myself to stay slim. This lifestyle is more enjoyable and sustainable.”
“I can now buy clothes I love, not just what fits. And my family is proud — that means everything.”
