Alison Hammond, 50, has transformed her health by losing 11 stone, dropping from 28 stone to 17 stone. She achieved this change without using any weight loss medication. Instead, she credits changes to her diet and exercise routine for her dramatic transformation.
In an interview with Good Housekeeping, Alison said she believes weight loss drugs can help those who need them. However, she admitted that she is wary of using them herself because of fear sparked by negative stories. “I haven’t wanted to use them,” she said, “but that’s not to say I wouldn’t in the future, and I certainly wouldn’t look down on anyone who did.”
Alison revealed that her motivation came from a warning from her mother, who told her, “If you can, sort out your weight, Alison.” Her mother’s concern was heightened by her own struggle with type 2 diabetes. Alison said the news that she was pre-diabetic scared her and pushed her to change.
At her heaviest, Alison described herself as morbidly obese and said she often bought extra seats on planes to avoid crowding others. “I had to lose weight because I was dying,” she said honestly. Now at 17 stone, she feels much healthier and is comfortable sharing her weight openly, despite some people still commenting on her size.
