Karan Johar, one of Bollywood’s most well-known filmmakers, has long been in the public eye—not just for his movies and talk shows, but also for his appearance. While fans praised his work, he often faced scrutiny over his weight. Now, at 52, Johar has opened up about a deeply personal battle with body dysmorphia and his journey toward better health.
In a recent interview with content creator Raj Shamani, Johar shared how he lost 20 kilograms—not with weight-loss drugs like Ozempic, but through discipline and a strict diet approach known as OMAD, or One Meal A Day.
Addressing rumours about using drugs such as Ozempic, Johar dismissed them with humor, saying if he had taken them, he would probably monetize the experience. Instead, he credited his results to OMAD, a lifestyle he followed consistently for seven months.
Johar’s version of OMAD involved eating just once a day, at 8:30 PM. He completely cut out lactose, gluten, and glucose from his diet. The rest of the day, he fasted, drinking only non-caloric beverages like water, black coffee, or herbal tea.
OMAD is a form of intermittent fasting where a person eats only once every 24 hours. The method is believed to improve metabolic flexibility, helping the body burn fat instead of glucose. Supporters of OMAD report benefits such as faster fat loss, better digestion, and improved insulin sensitivity. However, experts agree that maintaining this routine consistently is the hardest part.
Karan Johar’s transformation shows that major change is possible without shortcuts—only with dedication, structure, and the right approach.
