While Siri manages your schedule and Alexa curates your playlists, have you ever contemplated the notion of an AI-powered personal trainer guiding your daily workout? In a study harnessing AI tools developed by Midjourney and ChatGPT, it has become evident that fitness enthusiasts are increasingly receptive to the integration of AI into their fitness regimens. The study engaged 1,000 fitness enthusiasts, introducing them to the concept of AI-Assisted Training. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with 83% commending the high quality of AI-Assisted Training. They particularly lauded the program’s originality and the diverse range of fitness classes and plans it offered.

AIronclad, a strength training program, captured the attention of 45% of respondents, while 36% expressed interest in IntelliYoga, and 35% favored AI Velocity, a cycling workout. On average, fitness enthusiasts indicated a willingness to pay approximately $50 per month for a membership.

Personalization Emerges as a Key Driver

The survey’s findings highlight that 78% of fitness enthusiasts view personalization as the paramount feature of an AI-powered fitness program. Efficiency and cost-effectiveness also ranked prominently. However, the road ahead is not without obstacles, as concerns were voiced regarding potential technical glitches (77%) and the absence of a human connection (65%).

Trust in AI appears to be intrinsically linked to brand recognition. More than 60% of respondents stated they would place greater trust in AI technology if it were developed by a well-established fitness brand. Apple’s forthcoming health coach feature, Quartz, emerged as the most trusted, closely followed by Google and Nike. Notably, 12% of survey participants have already employed ChatGPT to generate workout programs, and among them, an impressive 12% reported achieving personal records through AI-guided workouts. Nearly 4 in 10 respondents expressed their willingness to terminate their existing gym memberships in favor of an AI-powered fitness subscription.

A Transformation on the Horizon

The future implications of AI on the fitness industry promise to be nothing short of captivating. With nearly 4 in 10 individuals poised to trade traditional gyms for AI-powered fitness, the shift is no longer a question of “if” but “when.”

For reference, the study surveyed 1,000 American fitness enthusiasts with an average age of 40, comprising 46% male, 52% female, and 2% non-binary participants.
