Peel Public Health inspectors issued a conditional pass to Galito’s restaurant at the Bramalea City Centre food court in Brampton following a routine inspection on June 12. The inspection revealed several food safety violations.
Inspectors found that the restaurant did not keep potentially hazardous food out of the temperature danger zone and failed to provide adequate refrigeration or hot-holding equipment for safe food storage. The establishment also lacked accurate and easy-to-read thermometers, which are essential for monitoring food temperatures.
The restaurant was found to have an insufficient number of handwashing stations for food handlers, and while some issues were corrected during the inspection, required supplies at each handwashing station were still missing. Inspectors also noted inadequate lighting, poor maintenance of the mechanical ventilation system, and generally poor housekeeping practices.
Despite these issues, a more recent inspection showed that the restaurant passed, indicating improvements had been made.
Peel Public Health uses a color-coded system to communicate inspection results to the public. A green pass indicates the establishment complies with food safety and operational standards. A yellow or conditional pass means the business has not met all requirements and must correct items that pose a risk of illness during the inspection. A red or closed sign indicates that the inspector found health risks or dangers serious enough to warrant immediate closure until the issues are resolved.
The inspection program aims to provide transparency about the safety and hygiene practices of food establishments in the Region of Peel.
