Saudi food and beverage giant Almarai Co. has announced plans to acquire Pure Beverages Industry Co., a leading producer of premium bottled water in Saudi Arabia, in a deal valued at approximately \$277 million (SAR 1.04 billion). This acquisition marks a significant step in Almarai’s strategy to expand its non-dairy beverage portfolio and strengthen its presence in the Saudi market.
Pure Beverages, established in 1979 by Aljan & Bros, is known for its high-quality water brands Ival and Oska. The company operates advanced production facilities that emphasize innovative technology, international quality standards, and sustainable practices.
Almarai, primarily recognized for its dairy products, also has a broad footprint in juices, beverages, poultry, infant formula, and bakery products. The acquisition aligns with the company’s goal to diversify its offerings and enhance its position in the fast-growing bottled water sector.
Funding for the deal will come from Almarai’s internal cash reserves. However, the transaction is still subject to regulatory approvals and the fulfillment of contractual conditions in Saudi Arabia.
This move follows an earlier attempt in March, when Almarai’s plan to acquire Hammoudeh Food Industries for SAR 263 million fell through due to the seller’s inability to meet the required conditions.
By acquiring Pure Beverages, Almarai signals a renewed focus on expanding its beverage lineup and strengthening local manufacturing capabilities to better serve Saudi Arabia’s evolving consumer market.
