Alyssa Huggins, a resident of Wileyville, West Virginia, just 16 miles from New Martinsville, has made the Tough As Nails Urban Challenge a yearly tradition. She participates with a group from Prodigy Fitness Center, embracing the event as both a workout and a social gathering.
“I’ve done it every year since they started Tough As Nails,” Huggins said. “We do it as a group, and it’s become something we look forward to.”
Huggins first joined the challenge to stay active after becoming a mother. She began working out at her local gym, taking fitness classes, and soon found motivation through the support of others.
“It started as exercise, but it’s really about the group atmosphere and camaraderie now,” she explained. “It’s something we can do together with friends and family.”
She trains regularly, hitting the gym three to five times a week. Beyond Tough As Nails, she and her group often join local races and obstacle courses to support fundraisers and community events.
By day, Huggins is a hairstylist and the owner of *Our Place For Family Hair Care* in New Martinsville. Balancing business, fitness, and community engagement, she continues to find strength in shared goals and local support.
