Preparations for International Yoga Day have commenced in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, gearing up for the global celebration of health and wellness. The main event this year will be held in Srinagar, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi set to participate.
The theme for this year’s International Yoga Day is “Yoga for Self and Society,” emphasizing the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life and motivating communities to do the same. Ministry of Ayush Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha highlighted the widespread celebration of Yoga, with all government offices in India and state governments actively participating in the events.
Yoga, an ancient practice originating in India, focuses on the union of body and consciousness. Since its adoption by the United Nations in 2014, the International Day of Yoga has been celebrated annually on June 21st.
Ahead of the International Day of Yoga, PM Modi encouraged people to integrate yoga into their lives, sharing videos demonstrating various yoga poses and their benefits. The upcoming events leading up to June 21st include yoga sessions and rehearsals for online programs, reflecting the growing global enthusiasm for this ancient practice.
