Adidas has released a new advertisement titled “Come On Push,” featuring global sports stars Lionel Messi and Patrick Mahomes in a playful treadmill competition. The ad highlights the brand’s “You Got This” campaign, emphasizing personal motivation through friendly rivalry.
Directed by Ryan Booth and produced by Lucky Day with creative agency Öpinionated, the spot shows Messi and Mahomes jogging side-by-side on treadmills, silently challenging each other by increasing their speeds. Their subtle smiles and glances convey a lighthearted competitive spirit. The athletes’ wives, Antonela Roccuzzo and Brittany Mahomes, make surprise appearances early in the commercial, adding energy to the scene.
Zach Jones, the project’s editor, praised the opportunity to work with footage of both stars. He said the most exciting part was capturing the “little moments” of playful one-upmanship that give the ad its mischievous energy.
The commercial closes with Messi and Mahomes playfully pressing buttons on each other’s treadmills before sharing a fist bump, underlining camaraderie alongside competition.
Adidas launched the “You Got This” campaign in May last year, and this latest spot reinforces its message that friendly rivalry can fuel personal drive.
What makes the ad stand out is its simplicity. Without dialogue or dramatic stunts, it relies on body language—side-eyes, smirks, synchronized running—to build tension. This minimalistic approach showcases the creative strength of Lucky Day, known for work like Google’s “Year in Search.”
Adidas continues to focus on themes of performance, motivation, and fun, proving that celebrity endorsements don’t always require grand gestures—sometimes subtle moments are enough.
Messi recently also appeared in a Michelob ULTRA commercial, showing how top athletes and creative teams deliver memorable brand stories through bold ideas and authentic moments.
