Entrepreneur, author, and content creator Ankur Warikoo’s comeback story began with two chilling words on a prescription slip: “Stop walking!” For most people, such a directive would mean giving up. But for Warikoo, it marked the start of a remarkable journey.
After being diagnosed with Avascular Necrosis at age 33, a rare condition causing the hip bone to die from lack of blood flow, Warikoo faced months of immobility. He spent three months confined to bed and five months on crutches. Though he eventually regained his ability to walk, he felt as if life had been put on hold.
Determined to reclaim his mobility, Warikoo set himself an ambitious goal: to run a marathon. He trained intensely for ten months and successfully crossed the finish line. Yet, instead of feeling triumphant, he was left with an unexpected emptiness. “I thought I would feel great about it. But I felt the opposite. I felt I had cheated,” Warikoo admitted. Despite completing the full race, he questioned whether he had truly pushed himself. Before this marathon, the longest distance he had run was 14 kilometers, and he believed he could have completed a half-marathon on any ordinary day.
Warikoo’s story reflects a journey not only of physical recovery but of confronting personal limits and redefining success.
