Two Malaysian entrepreneurs are reshaping pet wellness with D’Gym, a mobile fitness center designed specifically for dogs. Operating out of a truck in the Klang Valley, D’Gym offers canine conditioning and strength training using slat mills—non-motorised treadmills that allow dogs to run at their own pace. This setup promotes cardiovascular and muscular endurance in a controlled environment.
“Unlike regular walks, where dogs often stop and get distracted, the slat mill provides a focused and consistent workout,” said Zane, one of D’Gym’s co-founders.
The idea for D’Gym came from the founders’ shared passion for pets and Zane’s background in business development and marketing. Backed by a six-figure investment, the pair launched their first mobile unit outfitted with two slat mills and various fitness tools to create a fully-equipped dog gym.
Since its debut, D’Gym has built a strong presence in the local pet community. The team actively promotes dog health through pop-up events and exhibitions, aiming to raise awareness about the importance of mental and physical stimulation for dogs. “People are often amazed when they see dogs confidently running on the slat mill. That reaction has been crucial in growing our brand,” Zane said.
Their strategy is working. D’Gym has seen consistent growth, with monthly revenue increasing between 10% and 20% since its soft launch. Now operating near full capacity each week, the business offers a variety of services, including custom fitness plans and Canicross training—a sport that pairs dogs and their owners for running workouts.
With plans to open a physical location and launch a licensing program, co-founders Zane and Alastair hope to expand their impact. “We want to redefine pet wellness in Malaysia,” said Zane. “Fitness is just as important for pets as it is for humans.”
