“In a gentle way, you can shake the world,” Mahatma Gandhi’s timeless wisdom resonated throughout the event, emphasizing yoga’s profound impact on individual health and community cohesion.

One of the highlights was the grand event on June 18th at NASA’s Johnson Space Center, organized by CGI Houston in collaboration with NASA, Space Center Houston, and Rasa Yoga. Against the backdrop of towering space shuttles, this gathering symbolized yoga’s growing popularity even in the realm of space exploration.

Despite weather challenges, enthusiastic crowds gathered at iconic venues such as the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial of North Texas in Dallas, the Congress in Austin, the Riverwalk in San Antonio, and Houston’s NASA, India House, and Discovery Green.

Seasoned yoga instructors led sessions infused with meditation, dynamic exercises, and revitalizing breathing techniques, fostering an atmosphere of renewal and community spirit.

D.C. Manjunath, Consul General of India in Houston, expressed his excitement over the event’s expanding influence, noting the significant participation and community engagement over the years. He highlighted this year’s theme, “Yoga for Self and Society,” and praised the collaborative efforts with various yoga organizations.

“It is clear that yoga has become a unifying force, bringing together people across cultures and backgrounds. It is heartening to see the youth participating in yoga sessions with such enthusiasm and dedication,” remarked Manjunath.

Celebrated annually on June 21, International Yoga Day showcases yoga’s transformative benefits and captures the attention of people worldwide. Beyond physical fitness, yoga fosters mental clarity, emotional resilience, and societal harmony.
