The Orillia National Nutrition senior softball team dominated on the road Sunday, sweeping a doubleheader against the second-place Muskoka Hitmen in Bracebridge.
In the first game, Orillia won decisively, 15-3. The team’s offense was strong, with Dave Stanford, Derrick Lafleur, Dave Clark, Peter Newman, Gary Molnar, and George Belanger all going 1-for-1 at the plate. Lafleur also hit a two-run home run. Pitchers Rob Milligan and Wayne Martin worked together to limit the Hitmen’s offense.
The second game was similarly high scoring, with Orillia taking a 17-10 victory. Stanford kept his perfect hitting streak alive, while Randy Ley led the team with five runs batted in.
With the sweep, Orillia improved to 9-1 on the season and maintained first place in the standings. The team will return home to Tudhope Park next Tuesday for a game against the Wasaga Beach Warriors.
