Christopher Schwarzenegger, son of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver, shared his five-year weight loss journey during a panel at the inaugural Beacher Vitality Happy & Healthy Summit in Los Angeles on May 10. The 27-year-old spoke alongside his mother, Maria Shriver, Kelly Osbourne, and event host Jeff Beacher, who also celebrated his own impressive 250-pound weight loss.
Christopher began his transformation in 2019, while living in Australia. Reflecting on his experiences, he recalled how his weight had limited his ability to enjoy everyday activities. “I wanted to go skydiving, and my friends were like, ‘No shot.’ I realized I couldn’t do things I wanted to do,” he said.
His struggles with weight began in high school, where he tried various methods to eat healthier, including bringing customized lunches to school. “I tried everything,” he said. “I remember feeling like a weirdo with my meal delivery.” This marked one of his first public discussions about his weight loss.
Despite the progress, Christopher emphasized that his journey was not quick or easy. “It’s not an overnight thing,” he said. “It took a lot of trial and error. Even now, I don’t feel like I’m at the ‘after’ stage yet.”
Many fans first noticed his weight loss when he was photographed in West Hollywood last month, sporting a slim-fitting shirt and khakis while out with his brother, Patrick Schwarzenegger.
Christopher also shared how a significant change during Lent helped him lose 30 pounds in under two months. “I gave up bread for Lent,” he said. “I thought, ‘If I’m doing this, I might as well stick with it,’ and it worked.”
The event also featured Kelly Osbourne, who credited Jeff Beacher for motivating her throughout her own weight loss journey. “He helped me change my life,” Osbourne said. “Watching him lose almost 250 pounds inspired me.”
Experts in health, wellness, and mental health also shared insights during the summit. Dr. Robert Huizenga, a physician who Beacher credits with saving his life, was among the speakers. The event concluded with Michael C. Bryan, a success coach, encouraging the audience to shift their focus from “well-being” to “being well.”
