Sameera Reddy opened up about her fitness journey, revealing that she officially started her consistent workout routine on January 1, 2025, though she began her personal fitness push on her 46th birthday, December 14. In an interview with indianexpress.com on May 6, the actor discussed her progress over the past five months and how she shifted her focus toward long-term health rather than fluctuating weight.
Reddy shared that she had struggled with weight loss cycles in the past, often facing the unsustainable challenges of yo-yo dieting. However, she now emphasizes the importance of “ageing well” and building strength over simply aiming to be thin. She explained, “It actually started when I realised that constantly yo-yoing with my weight wasn’t sustainable. I was trying to balance work, family, and yoga, but even with discipline, life would get overwhelming, especially as a busy mom.”
The mother of two also spoke about her approach to diet, highlighting a balanced plan without “extreme restrictions.” Her focus is on portion control and matching her food intake to her workout intensity.
“At 46, I realise that extreme diets and yo-yo weight loss aren’t the solution,” Reddy said. “My priorities now are building strength, managing my fitness levels over the long run, and feeling strong and confident, rather than just trying to be skinny… There are no extreme restrictions, like cutting out carbs.”
In recent Instagram posts, Sameera has shared both her fitness journey and her message about the power of positivity. She encourages followers to set realistic goals, create vision boards, and maintain a positive mindset, urging them to be their own biggest supporters.
