COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Two local veterans have opened a new fitness facility in southern Colorado Springs, bringing national-level training programs to the local community. The franchise, D1 Training Southern Colorado, officially opened on Monday.
Founded by former NFL player Will Bartholomew, D1 Training now has more than 100 locations across the country. The latest addition is owned by husband and wife Chris and AnneMarie Carr, who bring years of experience in fitness and athletics to their venture.
Chris, a former Division II football player and youth coach, and AnneMarie, a registered nurse with degrees in nursing and exercise science, saw a need for more advanced fitness options in the area—especially for young athletes.
“Our kids were doing club sports in Denver, where sports performance training is common,” said Chris. “But in Colorado Springs, we felt that kind of access was missing. We wanted to offer something for both students and adults.”
The Carrs are also launching a Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) program for high school athletes. The initiative, set to be announced at their grand opening in June, will sponsor one athlete from each of the 13 local high schools—an investment worth over $40,000 annually.
“We’re not just opening a gym. We’re getting involved,” Chris said. “We’re going to games, working with club teams, and building real relationships in the community.”
D1 Training stands out for its structured, coach-led classes led by highly certified trainers. Each session follows a five-part formula, including warm-ups, core work, conditioning, and strength training. Programs are offered for different age groups: Rookie (7–11), Developmental (12–14), Prep (15–18), and Adult (18+).
With a target reach of more than 60,000 local youth and 250,000 adults, the Carrs are focused on making a broad impact.
“If you want to build confidence, burn fat, get stronger, or just move better, we have a program that can help,” Chris added.
The Carrs hope their facility not only fills a gap in local training options but also becomes a hub for health, growth, and community support in southern Colorado Springs.
